I was totally lost in my own world..
(Classic me. Oscar-worthy daydreaming.)

I was along with someone.
We took the lift..
There was trust factor, comfort factor —
the whole “I’ll follow you, you seem like you know things” energy.

We left the lift.
We walked a few miles..

He realised it was the wrong floor.

A few MILES and THEN you realise?

I also landed on the wrong floor.
Wrong floor. Wrong destination.
Staring at a corridor that was never mine to begin with.

And in life also, this happens often.

You start.
You want to go someplace.

But somewhere between the trust factor and the comfort factor —
you’re walking someone else’s miles,
chasing someone else’s floor,

compromising on your destination,
your dreams,
your happiness.

And before you even notice —

Life happens.

(The lift was working fine, by the way.
You just forgot to press your own floor.)
